Szczesny believes Arsenal’s third-place finish defied most people’s
expectations after their disappointing start to the season. The 2013 UEFA Champions League Final will be played at Wembley Stadium, London on 25 May 2013. A great incentive for the four English teams to do well in the next campaign. Who will the four English teams be? At the time of writing there are three automatic qualifiers from the English Premier League: Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal. The fourth placed team in the EPL – Tottenham Hotspur – would normally take the fourth EPL place in the Champions League. However, the winner of the 2012 Champions League Final, to be played this coming weekend, gets automatic entry into next season’s campaign. Only four teams from the EPL are permitted. So, if Chelsea beats Bayern Munich then Chelsea qualifies for next season’s UCL and poor Spurs get knocked out by Chelsea before the competition has even started. If Bayern Munich wins the CL Final then Tottenham Hotspur will get the fourth EPL place in the 2012/13 Champions League. No need to guess which team Spurs want to win.
